Coaching FAQs
My coaching approach is to build a thought-provoking partnership focused on clarity, accountability, and sustainable performance. As a coach, it’s not my role to give advice or prescribe solutions. Instead, I help leaders think more clearly, see new perspectives, and gain insight into what’s actually driving their challenges, so we can co-create solutions and actions that align with your goals and objectives. Note that I also provide separate consulting and speaking services that are a great addition to coaching for many teams and organizations.
Coaching is best suited for leaders who are open, reflective, and serious about growth. I work most often with executives, senior leaders, managers, and leadership teams who want strong results without burnout becoming the cost of success.
Coaching is client-led. You set the agenda, and the work focuses on your goals, decisions, and leadership context. Coaching is also great for having a thought-partner, reflection, and accountability. Unlike consulting or mentoring, coaches don’t give advice, tell you what to do, or provide recommendations. A key part of coaching’s incredible value comes from building mindset, capability, clarity, awareness, and follow-through that lasts far beyond our sessions.
Coaching engagements vary based on the leader, context, and desired timeframe. Multiple coaching package options are available to meet almost any need from a several session introduction to coaching to 18+ month comprehensive programs including multiple services such as assessments, debriefs, executive sponsorship sessions, leadership observation sessions, and more. We’ll discuss structure, cadence, focus, and options once we’ve had a conversation and confirmed we’re a good fit to work together.
Both options are available. Coaching sessions can be done via video, in person in the Calgary area, or on-site outside Calgary as part of specific corporate and leadership development programs. We will discuss what best suits your needs.
Coaching works exceptionally well alongside leadership development and learning programs. It helps leaders apply what they’re learning in real time, translate insight into action, and create measurable impact from existing investments.
I have a network of dozens of highly qualified and experienced coaches that I collaborate with on larger and speciality projects. For example when working with a larger senior leadership team, I may lead various speaking, facilitation, and team coaching sessions, and bring in other coaches to work with the individuals on that team. This avoids any conflicts of interest. Likewise, if I’m working individually with members of a SLT, and the organization wants to add team coaching, I will bring a colleague in to facilitate/coach the team/group sessions.
A very common question. The short answer is: I don’t. My coaching is outcomes-based. Different desired outcomes require a different mix of services, coaching sessions, and level of interaction to produce. Session options may range between 15 minute laser focussed sessions to 2 hour plus deep dive sessions, plus there are options such as assessments (360, MBTI, Core Strengths, etc.), debriefs, executive sponsorship sessions, leadership observation sessions. Each can be combined as part of a customized package.
As mentioned above, many options exist and I’m happy to discuss them with you. I will say that like many things in life, you get what you pay for. While there are many coaches out there who charge more, if you are on a very tight budget, I may not be the right coach for you.
